Duel Sportsbook: The Lowest Margin We Have Measured in Crypto

Every sportsbook says “sharp odds”. Duel’s average margin is 1.96%, against a 6.21% median across 21 crypto books. Here is what that is worth, and what it does not tell you.

Duel is a casino first, but it runs a full sportsbook: football, basketball, tennis, hockey, MMA, the usual list, plus a deep esports menu with CS2, League of Legends, Dota 2 and Valorant. Everything is settled in crypto.

The interesting part is not the menu. Every book has a menu. It is the price. In sports betting the margin is the house edge, and on that number Duel is not close to the rest of the crypto field.

One thing to know up front: Zero Edge does not apply here. The sportsbook is a separate product with its own margins.

The margin, measured against 20 other books

“Razor-thin margins” is what every sportsbook says. Here is the number.

The margin, the vig, the juice, the overround, take your pick, is the slice the book builds into its odds. It is the sportsbook equivalent of a house edge, and it is the only number that decides whether a winning bettor stays a winning bettor. A third-party dataset covering 91 crypto casinos records an average sports margin for 21 of them:

Casino Average margin Cost per £100 staked
Duel 1.96% £1.96
Gamdom 4.97% £4.97
Duelbits 5.08% £5.08
Stake 5.36% £5.36
Median of the 21 6.21% £6.21
BC.Game 6.99% £6.99
Rainbet 7.35% £7.35
Goated 9.20% £9.20

The gap is not incremental

Duel is not narrowly ahead. It is less than half the price of the next cheapest book in the set, and under a third of the median. Across the whole comparison, RTP builds, trust signals, on-chain flows, this is the widest gap we have found between Duel and the field on any measure.

Put it in money. Stake £200 a week across a season and you turn over £10,400. At Duel’s margin the book expects to keep about £204 of that. At the median crypto book it expects £646. That £442 difference is not decided by how well you pick; it is decided before you place a single bet.

For context outside crypto: a 1.96% margin is the territory of the sharp, low-margin books that professional bettors actually use, and it is roughly a third of what a typical high-street bookmaker charges on a two-way market. It is an unusual number for a casino-first brand.

Who actually runs the book

The sportsbook is not built in-house. Duel runs on Betby, a B2B sportsbook platform used by 16 of the casinos in the same dataset. That is worth knowing for two reasons. It means the trading, the market coverage and the in-play engine are a specialist’s work rather than a side project, and it means the margin is a commercial setting Duel chooses on top of that platform, not a property of the software. A setting can be changed. The other Betby books in the set are not running 1.96%.

What we have not done

We have not priced the markets ourselves. This figure comes from a third-party dataset dated 8 August 2026, not from us sampling odds across a season, and a single average hides real variation: margins differ sharply between a Premier League match-winner market and a niche esports prop, and books widen them on low-liquidity events. Treat 1.96% as the shape of the thing rather than the price of your next bet.

The check is easy enough to run yourself on any market. Convert each side’s decimal odds to 1 divided by the odds, add them up, and subtract 1. On a fair two-way market with no margin you get 0. Whatever you get above that is what the book is charging you, and it takes about fifteen seconds.

Markets, esports and bet modes

What you can bet on

Duel’s sportsbook covers the major sports and a deep esports menu, all settled in crypto:

  • Sports: football (soccer), basketball, tennis, ice hockey, volleyball, baseball, golf and more
  • Esports: Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), League of Legends, Dota 2 and other major titles

Bet modes

It’s more than a plain bet slip. Duel gives you several ways to play:

  • Live betting, bet in-play as the action unfolds
  • Highlights, quick access to the biggest upcoming markets
  • Predictions, call outcomes and compete
  • Event Builder, combine multiple markets from one event into a single bet
  • Bets Feed, a real-money-only feed of what others are actually betting (no fake bets)

Edge, odds & fairness

True to the Duel philosophy, the sportsbook runs on the lowest house edge it can and shows transparent odds, no inflated margins buried in the price. Every wager you see in the feed is real money, so the activity you’re looking at is genuine, not staged hype.

What’s coming: a 0% edge PvP sportsbook

Duel is building a 0% house edge PvP sportsbook and prediction markets, you’d bet directly against other players instead of the house, with no margin taken in between. It’s an ambitious project and isn’t live yet, but it’s the natural extension of Duel’s Zero Edge mission into sports.

Verdict

If you bet sports regularly, a low margin is worth more over a season than any boost or promo. On the data we have, Duel is the cheapest crypto book in the set by a wide margin. Check it on your own markets with the 15-second formula above, especially on niche esports props where books often widen their prices.

Two caveats: the 0% PvP sportsbook is not live yet, and Duel is restricted in the US, UK and several other countries (see the countries page). And a cheap price does not make betting a way to earn money. Our responsible gambling page covers limits.
